All about the gite complex "Le Bois"

Le Bois is situated a mile outside of the pretty hamlet of Meigne le Vicomte in the Maine et Loire department. The village has a long history and is dominated by a spectacular church which is the central feature of the village. The amenities include a Bar Tabac, general store, Marie's office and Post Office and village hall.and village hall. A majority of the toursit attractions for this area are within a 5 minute to 30 minute drive from the property.

The Complex

The complex, known as Le Bois, is situated in the centre of 2 acres of land surrounded on all sides by farm land which changes by the season creating an ever changing vista to enjoy - no matter what the time of year. The main residence, le Bois, dates back some 250 years with the second property, Le Bûcheron, predating this by a further 50 years. Within the grounds there are two substantial barns and our own water well reaching down to a depth of 10 metres and a large above gorung pool measuring 20' x 12' with most outdoor living areas either situated on the southern or western aspects of the properties.

The Cottage - Le Bûcheron

Le Bûcheron (the woodcutter) has been lovingly restored over the winter and is now a spacious yet romantic one bedroomed cottage with substantial views over the gardens and fabulous vista beyond. The property suits couple looking for a quiet retreat, elderly or mobility impaired guests requiring ground floor accommodation or families with small children sleeping in the same room as their parents.

The property is entered via the split stable door which leads directly to the large open plan living area and kitchen. The centre piece of this room is the magnificent tuffeau stone fireplace complete with an authentic log burning fire for those cooler evenings. The seating in both the lounge and dining areas is designed for up to four guests and equipment includes a flat screen TV, DVD player, VHS Video and English free-to-air TV and iPod dock are provided as standard for the comfort of our guests.

The kitchen has been designed to be an integral part of the living space and enjoys a high level of equipment including electric hob, wall mounted oven and microwave. Because of the open plan design our guests can enjoy the ambiance of the living area whilst engaged in the kitchen.

The bedroom is the full depth of the cottage and has a lovely fireplace at its heart. The bed formation is a double bed and a full size single bed with a second single bed which pulls out from underneath. This configuration allows for a maximum of four people in this room which would enable families with younger children to maximise their holiday budget. A high chair and cot are also available if required.

With those guests with mobility in mind the cottage benefits from a full size wet room comprising of a large walk in hydro massage shower unit, easy flush toilet and large basin. The room is large enough to accommodate a wheelchair if required.

The exterior of the cottage is very private with a terrace on the south facing aspect complete with a table and four chairs. On the west aspect there is a sun terrace with a further table and chair set and a BBQ exclusively for guest of Le Bûcheron to use. The large above ground pool (20’ x 12’) is shared with our other property and is heated by a solar cover and is fully filtered for guests use during daylight hours.
