Welcome to Le Bois, the tastefully restored gite complex sleeping upto 10 people in two detached rental Gites on former farmstead in the rural heart of the Loire Valley of France.
Originally built in about 1750, the complex is set in two acres of private grounds and surrounded on all sides by open countryside. The complex is just one kilometre from the commune of Meigne le Vicomte, in the department of Maine et Loire, with a beautiful historic church, bar Tabac, village store and post office. The nearest town is Noyant being just six kilometres from the house where you will find a well-stocked supermarket, several banks, a boucherie, two Boulangeries , a number of bars as well as an array of other amenities you would expect to find in this typical French town. There is also a street market each Friday morning which has proved popular with our guests over the past few years.
The larger property, Le Bois, was fully renovated in 2008 by the current owners with the main structure remaining intact but with the property having been completely electrically rewired and plumbed throughout. Remaining sympathetic to the original design the internal features of the property have been retained whilst creating a spacious and luxurious three bedroomed gite suitable of six people plus two infants.
In the winter of 2010, work began on converting the neighbouring cottage which retains all the same high standards of the larger property but is based on a single ground floor layout ideal for couples or those with limited mobility. The cottage, Le Bûcheron, retains all the original features with all the modern conveniences added.
Each year the complex facilities for our guests are improved. The complex now benefits from each property having two private terraces, South and West facing, each complete with its own outdoor table and chair sets complete with a parasol, a charcoal BBQ and fully reclining sun loungers.
The complex shares a large above ground pool measuring twenty feet by twelve feet with a constant depth of four feet. The pool is heated naturally by a solar cover and in the summer months retains heat at around 24 degrees Celsius. As the pool is sited in the south garden the pool is exposed to the sun throughout the day extending the period of time the pool can be enjoyed by our guests without shadows.
In 2011 a substantial children’s play area was added to the complex providing a full size trampoline with safety net and a large climbing frame with twin seats. This has been a huge hit with both our younger guests and their parents!!
